Local art teacher and porcelain sculptor Teresa Testa has been selected to be an honorary featured artist at this year’s ArtFestTM of Henderson, which celebrates its 11th anniversary on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 in the Water Street District in downtown Henderson. Testa’s artwork will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
Testa, who specializes in elegant porcelain sculptures, sits as the vice president of the Clay Guild, an organization who educates the public about the ceramic arts. She also has worked as an art specialist at Robert Lake Elementary in Las Vegas since 1987.
“Teaching plays an important role in everyday life,” said Testa. “I’m impassioned in what I do and I teach from my heart. It’s rewarding to see the expressions on my student’s faces when they create a beautiful piece of artwork.”
Testa’s signature, yet unique, pieces are hand-crafted out of the finest quality porcelain and features delicate edges, a variety of textures and beautiful colored glazes. Her art is a personal interpretation of the graceful beauty of nature and has been displayed at many galleries, juried shows and exhibitions in Nevada, California and Arizona. She has also been highlighted in many publications like Design & Architecture Magazine and Las Vegas Home & Design.
ArtFestTM of Henderson, which draws over 40,000 attendees, is the largest art festival in southern Nevada. The annual art festival features over 200 select artists from across the nation displaying and selling stunning artwork from paintings to pottery, jewelry to photography and much more. Other festival features include live jazz and contemporary entertainment, a new food and beverage court and an expanded Kids’ Gallery, which includes hands-on crafts, a family stage and other fun activities.
A Mother’s Day weekend tradition, ArtFestTM of Henderson will stretch down Water Street, including the Henderson Events Plaza and the Henderson Convention Center, both located at 200 S. Water Street.
