THE SCINTAS & ELLIE SMITH TO SERVE AS GRAND MARSHALS FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE, MARCH 15

The City of Henderson Cultural Arts & Tourism Department in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Sons of Erin announced that The Scintas and 11-year-old singer Ellie Smith will serve as the grand marshals for the 42nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. in downtown Henderson.

“We are excited and honored that The Scintas and Ellie will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as this year’s parade grand marshals,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “They are talented musicians and singers that are respected and loved for their involvement within the community.”

The Scintas have been one of the best shows in Las Vegas since arriving in 2000. Featuring brothers Joe and Frank, sister Chrissi and “Irish Scinta” and longtime friend, Peter O’Donnell, the one-of-a-kind act features a blend of music, comedy and impersonations in an action-packed performance. Their latest show, “Laugh Out Loud,” debuted last fall at the Las Vegas Hilton and incorporates even more laughs and music with tributes to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Mick Jagger and many more.

Ellie Smith has performed the national anthem in front of thousands since she was six years old. Nicknamed “The Star Spangled Girl,” Smith has sung for such teams as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Phoenix Suns, UNLV and Las Vegas Wranglers. The sixth-grader at St. Viator Catholic School was featured on CBS television’s “The Early Show,” starred in Neil Simon’s “Jake’s Women” and played an orphan along side Sally Struthers in “Annie.”

The “Southern Nevada Sons of Erin” St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at Water Street and Ocean Avenue and proceed down Water Street to Victory Road. It will feature floats representing area elementary, middle and high schools, marching bands, drill teams, special interest vehicles, marching groups and horses.

A five-day festival kicks off the holiday celebrations from March 13 through 17 at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street. The festival features a variety of authentic Irish entertainment, delicious food, carnival, beer garden, car show and more.  Admission to the events is free and open to the public.

A portion of the proceeds from this year’s parade & festival will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas.
