Ahlstedt will be honored at a public ceremony on Thursday, March 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, located at 800 S. Brush Street in Las Vegas. Tickets are $40.
Ahlstedt was chosen to receive the Governor’s Arts Award for Leadership in the Arts: Individual for her long-term service to the needs and interests of Southern Nevada’s diverse arts community. For over 25 years, Ahlstedt has been a volunteer and supporter of the cultural and performing arts and continues to assist in the advancement of new arts and artists in a rapidly growing arts destination.
Ahlstedt joined the City of Henderson in 2000 where she served as an Assistant Coordinator and Program Specialist in the Parks & Recreation Department. In 2006, Ahlstedt transferred to the newly formed Cultural Arts & Tourism Department where she currently resides as the Program Specialist for the arts, booking acts for Thursday Night Live!, a cultural arts series that showcases local and emerging talent.
“Sally is an important asset to our team,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “Her leadership, knowledge and support of the arts have helped our department grow over the last two years. Her dedication to the Henderson community has driven her to provide a variety of innovative, unique and entertaining cultural programming throughout the year.”
As a highly notable actress, director, producer and presenter for over 30 years, Ahlstedt has managed several galleries, theatres, arts councils and professional performance tours. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University College at Oswego, New York in 1972 and later earned a Master of Arts degree in Theatre Arts at the University of Idaho in 1984.
