CITY OF HENDERSON UNVEILS HENDERSON PAVILION 2011 SPRING SCHEDULE

 
$10 concert series returns for another season!
 
The City of Henderson is pleased to announce the spring 2011 performance schedule at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. The extensive lineup includes concerts and events spanning a variety of music genres and age demographics. Tickets for all shows are either complimentary or just $10 and are available at HendersonLive.com or calling (702) 267-4TIX (4849).
 
“As entertainment experiences geared for the entire family grow more challenging to come by, the City of Henderson has seized an opportunity to create a series of eight quality, family-friendly concerts, priced affordably,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department.
 
A list of the concerts and performances scheduled for the 2011 spring season at the Henderson Pavilion are below.
 
Henderson Symphony Orchestra
March 27 at 2 p.m.

Master Series II – Young Artists
The Henderson Symphony Orchestra will be joined by some of the most talented young musicians, as part of the 14th annual Young Artists Competition. The elite list of Clark County students, ages 10-17, will perform solo pieces from popular composers including Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Bach.
 
Jesse Cook
April 28 at 7 p.m.
Tickets: $10
Platinum-selling, award-winning flamenco guitarist, Jesse Cook, will dazzle audiences with his fiery, passionate guitar work, Latin rhythms and smoldering on-stage charisma. Cook has produced seven impressive albums over the last 15 years. In addition, he has sold over one million albums worldwide and over 400,000 in the United States alone. Cook has collaborated and performed with some of the world's best musicians including B.B King and Ray Charles.
 
Sugar Ray
April 29 at 8 p.m.
Tickets: $10
The multi-platinum rock band from Orange County, California, led by front runner and current contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, Mark McGrath, became popular with infectious summer singles of the late 1990s that crossed several genres of music including pop, funk, hip-hop and reggae. The band’s hit songs include “Fly”, “Every Morning”, “Someday”, “Falls Apart” and “When It’s Over”.
 
The Wizard of Oz
May 13, 14 & 21 at 8 p.m. & May 15 & 22 at 4 p.m.
Tickets: $10
The Las Vegas Shakespeare Company will bring to life the classic film, The Wizard of Oz, in a stage performance starring Dorothy and her three companions, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion. The group will travel along the yellow brick road in search of a return home for Dorothy, a brain for Scarecrow, a heart for Tin Man and courage for Lion.
 
Henderson Symphony Orchestra
May 20 at 8 p.m.

Master Series IV – Season Finale
The Henderson Symphony Orchestra will entertain audiences with an evening of light-hearted classics to wrap up its 2010-2011 season.
 
Live Orchestral Screening of Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights
June 3 at 8 p.m.
Tickets: $10
The Henderson Symphony Orchestra will provide the live accompaniment to the American Film Institute’s top romantic comedy of all time, Charlie Chaplin’s 1931 silent classic, City Lights.
 
The Symphonic Rock Show
June 18 at 8 p.m.
Tickets: $10
Las Vegas classic rock cover band, Yellow Brick Road, will partner with a 30-piece hand-selected orchestra to produce an evening of symphonic rock. Expect a true concert experience, complete with a laser light show and songs from such classic rock legends as Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Rush and Bon Jovi.
 
Since opening in 2002, the Henderson Pavilion has hosted a variety of events including rock, jazz and classical music performances, as well as full-scale, off-Broadway shows, musicals, ballets and comedy acts. Over the years, the outdoor amphitheatre has produced a number of sold-out concerts and events including Nickelodeon’s Drake Bell, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Paramore and The Nutcracker.
