CITY OF HENDERSON LAUNCHES NEW CULTURAL ARTS SERIES

TARGET® Presents ArtBeat features FREE family-friendly entertainment and arts education>

The City of Henderson announces a partnership with TARGET® to unveil a new cultural arts series, TARGET® Presents ArtBeat. The FREE event incorporates family-friendly activities that celebrate and educate the community on diverse world arts, entertainment and traditions with art displays, crafts, demonstrations and concerts from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. in the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District.

“We are pleased to offer free entertainment for the whole family,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “This series is a prime example of our dedication to the enrichment of Henderson residents’ lives through the arts.”

The grant provided by Target for this cultural arts series, is part of ongoing efforts by the corporation to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given five percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that translates to more than $3 million every week.

“At Target, our local grants are making a difference in the communities we serve,” said Laysha Ward, President of Community Relations and Target Foundation. “We’re proud to partner with the City of Henderson as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the communities where our guests and team members live and work.”

The TARGET® Presents ArtBeat series will kick off Friday, April 24 featuring a concert by Bash The Trash, a mix of infectious grooves, rhythms and musical styles from instruments created out of recycled materials, at 8 p.m. Pre-show activities include an interactive drum circle demonstration, visual artists displaying pieces made from recycled materials and a children’s craft area. Future dates include May 1, May 22, May 29, June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26, September 4, September 11, September 18 and October 9.
