RYAN SHUPE & THE RUBBERBAND TO PLAY AT ARTBEAT PRESENTED BY TARGET

Band performed at Olympics, SXSW in Austin and ABC’s Extreme Makeover

For the first time, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband will perform in Henderson at ArtBeat presented by Target, Friday, May 6 at 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. Pre-show activities begin at 5 p.m. Admission is complimentary.

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, the five-man band was founded by Ryan Shupe in the ‘90s. A consummate musician, Shupe performed with many groups, experiencing several break ups over the years. To avoid this, Shupe created a “rubber band”, based on a revolving lineup, where members could rotate in and out without changing the group’s name.

Since its formation nearly 20 years ago, the Rubberband, now with a permanent list of band members, has created an identity and huge following in their home state and around the country. By blending a mixture of music genres, from country to jazz, bluegrass, folk and rock & roll, the band has created a crossover style that is unique, imaginative and daring. It’s this style, as well as the group’s spontaneity, charm and versatility that have appealed to people of all ages.

The Rubberband has performed across the country, entertaining audiences at a variety of concert series and popular music festivals like SXSW in Austin, Texas. Additionally, the band has appeared at the 2002 Olympic Games, CBS’s Good Morning America and ABC’s popular reality show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. They have also opened for such acts as Trace Adkins, Trisha Yearwood, LeAnn Rimes, Creed and Marc Anthony.

Currently, the Rubberband is touring the U.S. They will perform a fun and energetic show in Henderson, playing popular songs from the band’s earlier years including “Dream Big”, a Top 40 hit on the Billboard charts, as well as “Banjo Boy” and “Be the One”. They will also introduce new material featuring the catchy song, “Don’t Leave Me Lonely”; the beautiful love serenade, “All I Need”; and the feisty rock anthem, “My Life”.
