WEIRD AL” YANKOVIC RETURNS TO HENDERSON TO PROMOTE NEW TOUR

Singer/parodist “Weird Al” Yankovic returns to Henderson to open his Straight Outta Lynwood 2008 Summer Tour at the Henderson Pavilion, located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, on Friday, June 27 at 8 p.m. Ticket prices for this all ages show range from $26 to $50.

Due to popular demand, Yankovic, a three-time Grammy award winner, returns to the road to promote his Straight Outta Lynwood album with a new action-packed show filled with a medley of comedy and music. The show focuses on Yankovic’s latest release, but also incorporates popular songs from his previous albums.

“‘Weird Al’ continues to stand the test of time,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “For 30 years, he has continued to reinvent himself by finding current pop culture artists and rearranging their songs in a new clever, hilarious and entertaining way.”

Straight Outta Lynwood, which was released in 2006, was named in honor of Yankovic’s California hometown. The album’s centerpiece “White & Nerdy” parodies Chamillionaire’s No. 1 smash hit “Ridin” and also includes spoofs of American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, Green Day and Usher. The album debuted at number 10 on the Billboard charts and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
