Friday performing arts series features complimentary concerts by Peace Frog & Ambrosia
After a summer hiatus, the City of Henderson will welcome back its signature cultural arts series, ArtBeat presented by Target, this September with popular music from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Featured concerts include Peace Frog, a tribute to The Doors, performing Friday, September 16 and Ambrosia, the symphonic, soft rockers from California, taking the stage, Friday, September 30, both beginning at 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. Admission is complimentary.
Peace Frog has been electrifying audiences across the world with its musical celebration of the legends of Jim Morrison and The Doors for the past 14 years. Named after an influential track from The Doors’ fifth album, Morrison Hotel, Peace Frog is a full rock drama production, taking fans back in time to experience the magic of an original Doors concert. They will be awestruck by the band’s ability to perform amazing renditions of “Light My Fire,” “Hello, I Love You,” “Soul Kitchen,” “Roadhouse Blues,” “People Are Strange” and more.
Inspired by the progressive rock era, Ambrosia created a unique sound that was unlike the music of the ‘70s, where disco was the craze and rock & roll reined the airwaves. With its fusion of symphonic rock, pop music and smooth harmonies, the band had a successful five-year run from 1975-1980, earning five Top 40 hits including “Holdin' On To Yesterday,” “How Much I Feel” and “Biggest Part of Me,” as well as receiving multiple Grammy Award nominations and collaborating with the best in the music industry like Alan Parsons. Ambrosia has travelled the globe, selling out shows for more than 40 years, and will perform in Henderson for the first time this fall.
In addition to the featured acts, ArtBeat will also include a pre-show, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a variety of complimentary performances by local musicians, art displays and demonstrations.
