International singing sensation Charice joins Cody Simpson, Iyaz and others for annual music festival at Henderson Pavilion
For the second consecutive year, international phenomenon Charice, will be one of many star-studded performers to appear during 98.5 KLUC’s End of Summer Block Party at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. This year’s back-to-school concert is scheduled for Tuesday, August 23 at 6 p.m. and, in addition to Charice, will feature Cody Simpson, Iyaz, Hard Nox, Jackson Gutry, Lex Rox, Denisse Lara and DJ CO-1. Tickets are $19.85 or $35.85 for premium seating, plus service fee, and are on sale now.
“Charice was such an incredible draw at last year’s End of Summer Block Party,” said Stacie Schmidt, Director of Marketing for CBS RADIO Las Vegas. “Now, with her recent role on the hit show Glee, she’s sure to have even more fans come out and see her, as well as other talented acts, at the Henderson Pavilion.”
Charice’s dreams came true when she earned the recurring role as foreign exchange student Sunshine Corazon on the hit Fox television series, Glee. Not only was she able to showcase her acting ability, but also introduce her incredible voice to an entirely new audience. As Sunshine Corazon, Charice presented serious competition for lead character, Rachel Berry. She gave Rachel a run for her money while singing power ballad’s such as Celine Dion’s “All By Myself,” Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” and “Listen” by Beyoncé. Charice’s true talents shined during the season two finale, performing “As Long As You’re There,” an original song produced by Glee and featured on the album Glee: The Music, Volume 6.
The 19-year-old vocal powerhouse from the Philippines, rose to fame when she was discovered on YouTube in 2007 and deemed the “most talented girl in the world” by Oprah Winfrey. Her debut album, Charice, entered the Billboard Pop Charts at #8, making her the first Asian artist to appear on Billboard’s Top 10 List. The lead single, “Pyramid” featuring End of Summer Block Party co-artist Iyaz, appeared in the #1 spot on Billboard’s dance chart last year.
With the help of other talented songwriters and producers in the music industry, Charice recently released a number of songs on iTunes including “Before It Explodes,” co-written by Bruno Mars and “One Day,” co-written and produced by Nick Jonas, both of which were released on consecutive days in April of this year. Her single “Louder” was also released this spring and is a preview of her second CD, which is scheduled for a fall launch. Additionally, Charice is a featured vocalist on fellow YouTube sensation Greyson Chance’s new single, “Waiting Outside the Lines.”
