The Rockin’ Blues Music Festival will celebrate its 3rd anniversary with an assortment of live concerts by award-winning acts that represent several genres of music including rock & roll, blues, country and jazz. Some of the headlining performers showcased are Michael Burks, Yellow Brick Road, Jessica Andrews and the Rock & Roll Dance Party. The family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, September 20 at the Henderson Pavilion, located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10, plus a service fee.
Michael Burks
For over 30 years, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Michael Burks has stunned audiences with his relentless power and intense dedication to performing the blues. The combination of his deep, soul-infused singing, electrifying guitar skills and heartfelt intensity has earned Burks national recognition as a major contemporary figure in the blues world. Additionally, the bluesman has been a nominee for several W.C. Handy Awards including Best New Artist, Contemporary Album of the Year and Guitar Player of the Year.
Yellow Brick Road
Local classic rock tribute band Yellow Brick Road has become widely recognized as one of the best for recreating the signature sounds of classic rock super groups like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones. With their dedication to producing an entertaining show that includes incredible sound, humor and an ever-increasing song list, Yellow Brick Road has earned top honors receiving the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Best of Las Vegas Awards in 2007 and 2008. The band has also shared the stage with Toby Keith, Sammy Hagar and many more respected musicians.
Jessica Andrews
As the future of country music, singer/songwriter Jessica Andrews first burst onto the music scene as a precocious, big-voiced teenager in 1999 and eventually had a major breakthrough with her sophomore album Who I Am two years later. During the whirlwind, Andrews accumulated a number of prestigious accolades including a #1 smash hit with “Who I Am,” winning the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Female Vocalist award and sharing the spotlight with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Trisha Yearwood. Now a seasoned performer, the twenty-something starlet introduces another side filled with passion, energy and emotional depth with her latest album Ain’t That Life.
Rock & Roll Dance Party
The Rock & Roll Dance Party is the official tribute band to rock legends Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. As the only show endorsed by the Holly and Valens estates, the Rock & Roll Dance Party showcases the talents of John Mueller, the critically acclaimed former star of the London and Broadway hit music Buddy…the Buddy Holly Story, as Buddy Holly; Ray Anthony, renowned star of the Legends of Rock and Roll at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, as Ritchie Valens; and Jay P. Richardson filling the footsteps of his father as the Big Bopper. The trio will entertain audiences with all the hit songs of the 50s era including “That’ll Be The Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “La Bamba” and “Chantilly Lace.”
The all-day festival includes a free classic car show featuring 300 classic cars, hot rods and muscle cars and a selection of food and vendor booths.
