MAE AND THE GREENCARDS PERFORM FREE CONCERTS IN OCTBER AT ARTBEAT PRESENTED BY TARGET

Cultural arts series features family-friendly activities & entertainment
 
The City of Henderson announces alternative rock group, MAE, and bluegrass band, The Greencards, will be the featured performing acts for the ArtBeat presented by Target cultural arts series in October. MAE will perform on Friday, October 9 at 7 p.m. and The Greencards will take the stage on Friday, October 23 at 7 p.m. Both shows will be at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District and will include pre-show activities such as art displays and children’s make & take crafts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

MAE was formed in 2003 by three friends from Virginia: Dave Elkins, Jacob Marshall, and Zach Gehring. The alternative rock group uses their personal interpretation of music as an M-ulti-sensory A-esthetic E-xperience, releasing several albums including Destination: Beautiful, Destination: B-sides, The Everglow and Singularity. They have embarked on many national and international tours with the likes of The Fray, Weezer and The Foo Fighters.
 
MAE is currently in the midst of a social movement entitled “12 Songs, 12 Months, 1 Goal: Make a Difference.” The band is releasing three separate collections of music, (M)orning, (A)fternoon and (E)vening, and partnering with charitable and humanitarian organizations to make a direct and positive impact. So far, MAE has raised over $50,000.
 
Singer/musician Bri Bernstein will be the opening act. A Las Vegas Academy for the Performing Arts student, Bri was a featured performer on this season’s America’s Got Talent on NBC.

The Greencards are a progressive bluegrass band, incorporating Irish folk, Romani, rock and roll music, as well as folk ballads and Latin musical scores. Founded in Austin, Texas in 2003, the band is comprised of an Englishman and two Australians. The group has released four albums including Movin’ On, Weather and Water, Viridian, and, most recently, Fascination. They have toured with such legends as Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Also, the group’s Viridian album was ranked #1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Music Chart and the album’s track “Mucky the Duck” was nominated for a Grammy Award.
 
Future ArtBeat dates include November 6, 13 and 20 at 7 p.m. with pre-show activities at 6:30 p.m.
 
All ArtBeat presented by Target acts take place in the Henderson Events Plaza amphitheatre with shaded seating. Blankets and personal coolers are welcome, but glass containers are prohibited.
