Professional triathletes Craig Alexander & Melissa Rollison
win titles at inaugural race in Henderson
Over the weekend, the City of Henderson hosted the Marine Corps Ironman World Championship 70.3 for the first time with approximately 1,700 athletes from across the globe competing in the triathlon this past Sunday, September 11. Top professionals, Craig Alexander and Melissa Rollison, both from Australia, celebrated victories, crossing the finish line at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, at the inaugural race in 3:54:48 and 4:30:55, respectively.
With this win, Alexander captured his second World Championship 70.3, while Rollison marked it as her first, just one year after entering her first 70.3 distance race. The top five professional men’s and women’s results from the Marine Corps Ironman World Championship 70.3 are below.

One of more than 50 Ironman 70.3 events worldwide, the Marine Corps Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Henderson proved to be a challenging race course for athletes. The triathlon, which moved from Clearwater, Florida, featured a 1.2-mile swim in Lake Las Vegas, 56-mile bike course, reaching multiple climbs up to 9,700 feet, throughout Lake Mead National Recreation Area and a 13.1-mile run, boasting an additional 2,000 feet elevation gain, through Henderson’s beautiful communities. Racers completed their trek with a finish line celebration at the Henderson Pavilion.
The Marine Corps Ironman World Championship will return to Henderson next September as part of a five-year contract with the World Triathlon Union.
