CITY OF HENDERSON REVEALS OCTOBER LINEUP FOR ARTBEAT PRESENTED BY TARGET

Jeanette Jurado, Sweeney Todd & Glen Templeton
featured acts at complimentary performing arts series

ArtBeat presented by Target, Henderson’s signature cultural performing arts series, will feature a diverse lineup, from musicals to concerts, this October. Featured shows include the thriller Sweeney Todd* on Friday, October 7, with Glen Templeton, rising county music artist, taking the stage, Friday, October 14 and Exposé’s Jeanette Jurado closing the season with music from her solo project on Friday, October 21. All three performances will begin at 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. Admission is complimentary. (*Parental guidance is suggested.)

RagTag Entertainment, in partnership with Butcher Block Productions, will present the Tony Award-winning version of the Broadway musical melodrama, Sweeney Todd*. Set in 19th century London, the critically-acclaimed show follows the life of the mysterious barber of Fleet Street.

Exiled for a crime he didn’t commit, Sweeney Todd returns to his hometown to seek revenge on the judge who framed him. While in disguise as a man who cuts hair, Todd’s customers become unfortunate casualties to his chilling motives and his partner in crime, a pie shop owner, reaps the benefits with a new meat pie recipe, which becomes popular with Londoners.

In an unusual and fun twist, the infamous story will have audiences on the edge of their seats one minute, gasping in astonishment the next and laughing hysterically over the prominent dark humor throughout the show.

Glen Templeton, one of country music’s rising stars, will perform for the first time in Henderson this fall, all surrounding the anticipation of his debut album. Most notable for portraying Conway Twitty in the musical production about the life of the legendary hall of famer, It’s Only Make Believe, Templeton will introduce audiences to his own tunes, including his debut song, “I Could Be the One,” which was released in July and made the top 100 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs list, as well as many other exciting works.

After more than a year hiatus, Exposé’s Jeanette Jurado will return to the stage to sing the dance/pop trio’s monster hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s like “Let Me Be the One,” “Point of No Return,” “Come Go With Me” and the #1 monster smash, “Seasons Change,” as well as music from her new solo project. Her appearance comes on the heels of an Exposé reunion concert, where the vocal powerhouses, consisting of Jurado, Ann Curless and Gioia Bruno, performed to a packed crowd at the Henderson Pavilion last October.

In addition to the featured acts, ArtBeat will also include a pre-show, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a variety of complimentary performances by local musicians, art displays and demonstrations.
