CITY OF HENDERSON GETS INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT WITH ANNUAL WINTERFEST CELEBRATION

 
The City of Henderson will spread the holiday cheer at this year’s WinterFest, December 11-13 at the Henderson Convention Center and Henderson Events Plaza, both located at 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. The annual winter festival will feature family-friendly activities including an official tree lighting ceremony, Santa Claus visits, live entertainment and much more. Parking and admission is free.
 
Additionally, the City of Henderson acknowledges its second year partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps to support the Toys for Tots Program. The Henderson Convention Center will be collecting new and unwrapped toys November 20-December 22 to be given to those less fortunate living in Southern Nevada.
 
Thursday, November 20 – Monday, December 22 – Henderson Convention Center
7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.   The official Toys for Tots drop-off location.
 
Thursday, December 11 – Henderson Convention Center
7:00 p.m.   Henderson Symphony Orchestra performs the “Sounds of the Season” concert.
 
Friday, December 12 – Henderson Events Plaza
6:00 p.m.   Mayor James B. Gibson kicks off WinterFest with the official tree lighting ceremony.   
6:15 p.m.   Holiday Decorating Contest awards ceremony presented by the Commemorative Beautification Commission and Channel 3’s Kevin Janison.
6:30 - 9 p.m.  Visits with Santa Claus, holiday entertainment, pony rides, petting zoo, ice skating and gingerbread house display and voting.
 
Saturday, December 13 – Henderson Events Plaza
10 a.m.   WinterFest Parade down Water Street featuring the theme “Toys on Parade.” Once again, the U.S. Marine Corps serves as the grand marshal.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.   Gingerbread house display and voting.
10 a.m. – 7 p.m.   Visits with Santa Claus, spectacular craft fair, festive entertainment, pony rides, petting zoo and ice skating.
4:30 p.m.   Gingerbread house winners announced.
4:30 – 6 p.m.   Production of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol.
