Australian's Craig Alexander and Melissa Rollison celebrated victories as the first male and female to cross the finish line at the Henderson Pavilion, completing the 2011 Marine Corps Ironman World Championship 70.3.
 
Approximately 1,700 athletes from all 50 states and numerous countries conquered one of the toughest triathlon courses in the United States, swimming 1.2 miles in Lake Las Vegas, cycling 56 miles in and around Lake Mead Recreational Area and running 13.1 miles through Henderson's scenic residential areas.

Henderson has been awarded the Marine Corps Ironman World Championship 70.3 for the next four years. The date for the 2012 competition has been secured.
